Who we are

Huggles is an Australian marketplace for party and event hire, connecting customers with items, services and independent suppliers. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why, and the choices you have. Questions any time: hello@huggles.com.au.

What we collect

Account details — your name, email address, password (stored hashed) and, optionally, a phone number.
Bookings and orders — event dates, delivery suburb and postcode, delivery address, items and services booked, and your communications with suppliers through Huggles.
Event planning details you choose to add — plans, guest lists and RSVP responses (names and, where you add them, guests' email addresses or mobile numbers). You are responsible for having permission to add someone else's contact details.
Supplier business details — for suppliers: business name, contact details, service areas and listings.
Payments — processed by Stripe. Your card number never touches our servers; we keep a payment reference, amounts, and deposit-hold status.
Technical data — IP address, browser type and pages visited, used for security, rate-limiting and keeping the site working.

Signing in with Google or Facebook

If you sign in with Google or Facebook, we receive only your name, email address and profile picture from that provider, and we use them solely to create or match your Huggles account. We never post on your behalf, never access your contacts or friends, and never receive your password for those services. Linking a provider to an existing Huggles account requires the provider to have verified that the email address is yours.

How we use your information

To provide the service: taking and fulfilling bookings, processing payments and refundable deposits, sending booking and account emails (confirmations, RSVP updates, password resets), connecting you with suppliers, preventing fraud and abuse, and meeting our legal obligations. We do not sell personal information, and we do not use your data for third-party advertising.

Who we share it with

Suppliers fulfilling your order — they see what they need to deliver: your first name, the items ordered, event date and delivery details. They do not see your payment details.
Service providers — Stripe (payments), Microsoft Azure (hosting, Australian region) and our email delivery provider, each only to the extent needed to run Huggles.
When the law requires it — if compelled by law, regulation or court order.

Cookies

We use essential cookies only: a session cookie to keep you signed in, a security token that protects forms, and — if you tick "remember me" or sign in with Google or Facebook — a longer-lived sign-in cookie. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

Storage, security and retention

Your data is stored in Microsoft Azure's Australian region. Passwords are hashed, connections are encrypted (HTTPS), and access is restricted to those who need it. We keep personal information only while you have an account or while we are required to keep it — records of completed transactions are retained as required by Australian tax and consumer law.

Your rights

You can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct it, by emailing hello@huggles.com.au. We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles. If you are unhappy with how we've handled your information, you can also complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (oaic.gov.au).

Deleting your account or data

To delete your Huggles account and the personal information associated with it — including anything received from Google or Facebook sign-in — email hello@huggles.com.au from your account's email address with the subject "Delete my data". We will confirm and complete the deletion within 30 days. Records we are legally required to keep (for example, tax records of completed bookings) are retained in de-identified or minimal form for the required period only.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy in a meaningful way we will update this page and the date above, and for significant changes we will tell you by email or an in-app notice.
